RPG DESIGN & RPG HISTORY
As the last designer standing from the Golden Age of RPGs, and having published award-winning content and contributed to most editions of the game, Rob's purpose is to preserve the true history of D&D™ and to point paths forward for designers and creative GMs.
A TSR alumnus and the co-DM with Gary Gygax who created the original campaign used in play-testing the D&D game in 1973, Rob has written over a million words for RPGs alone.
Rob's thoughts on its history and the RPG play model that was created by Dave Arneson in 1971 and reiterated for D&D's publication comes from over 50 years of thinking about and engaging with that model as it changed through successive editions.

ROB KUNTZ & TLS
Award-winning author and designer Robert J. Kuntz is one of the legendary founders of the D&D™ game and a first-wave alumnus of TSR, the company which in 1974 produced the world's first RPG in his home town of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Rob is the 'Last Designer Standing' from the game's UR beginning; and he considers it a huge honor and duty to celebrate the people and sources that were instrumental in birthing and nurturing what he believes was a paradigm shift in game design and game theory.
Three Line Studio is Rob's entertainment-development firm, while Three Line Studio Store sells his latest — mostly never before published — RPG-related material in digital (PDF) format.
Fall 2026 will herald the exciting and long-awaited *PRINT* release of The Return of Robilar, in a full-color richly-illustrated and totally revamped design, through our publishers Mad Scribe Games.
* Dungeons & Dragons is a registered trademark of Wizards of the Coast.
